Humping Rhinos, The Royal Wedding and 1984…

I saw Hugh Bonneville in Waitrose the other morning, fresh from Downton. He came in sneakily early, as the famous people always do when they come shopping.

He bought milk. There’s some gossip for you.

I went to Colchester to stay with the boyf, and we went to Colchester Zoo, which was jolly good because there were some excellent Rhinos humping.  When I say humping, the male just trudged towards the female, hovered for a while, then managed to clamber on but just stood there for a while, really quite motionless. Eventually, the female got bored and moved away, and the male just toppled off. A bad day for the world of men.

We also went to London for the Royal Wedding, which was really lovely. The atmosphere was brillo pads, and we saw all the royals twice, whizzing past in their automobiles. I painted a little Union Jack on Alex, which consisted of pink lipstick and biro, as we were short on materials. Lovely!

On a literary note, I have just finished Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell, and it was disturbing but excellent. I’m not so good with advanced politics, so there were a few bits that were tricky for my cake-filled mind, but the concept is terrifying, and it is a very good book. I recommend to all.

I really like sour apple cubes.
